Annual General Meeting 6th March 2008

1 - Attendees

All of the committee. Approximately 40 in total (not bad for a freezing night).

Apologies received from Jim Scott, Chris and Sally Bell.

2 - Reps Report

Terry's Reps Report

Terry thanked Steve Cooper for his work over the recent years as he is standing down from the K'nell Rep post. Tom has become a committee member. Bev has become a national associate which reflects the effort that he puts into the club. John King has taken up responsibility for fundraising including organising the raffle prizes.

Terry thanked the rally committee for the hard work before and during the Yorkies rally in May 2007 and also thanked those who attended and helped out. It was thought that most Yorkies who attended the rally helped out in some way.

Terry received a letter from the Cairn Hotel (location for dinner/dance) thanking us for our attendance. They had reduced the price of the beer for us and donated prizes for the raffle as well as giving us use of the bridal suite which is allocated based on a draw of names. The Cairn are to hold a draw for the staff and one of the prizes will be a rideout with they Yorkies so the rideout will start and end at the Cairn with refreshments available. Unless somebody can find anywhere that can give better value then the next dinner/dance will also be held there at a cost of £54.

At the dinner/dance a cheque for £1360 was presented to Yorkshire Cancer Research. This represented money raised at the rally, from the calendars and a special donation from Steve and Margaret Reynolds who also received a letter of thanks.

Early rideouts next year have been planned to be short ones to encourage new members, people new to rideouts and to provide practice in group riding skills.

Last Year Summary

There were 10 official rideouts but about 16 in total with about 20-25 people on each run.

Last Year's events included:

Merchandise

Shell from East Leeds Lions can get us pin badges for £3 and is currently designing a new one. She is also going to do a fun design based on a fist of money and "ow much" for t-shirts and patches.

Don has some 5 and 10 year badges to buy if anybody wants one.

Paul Marshall's Deputy Reps Report (on the Centre in general)

Points made included:

Terry thanked Steve (webmaster) for his time and efforts on re-designing the website. Steve is an associate member but puts a lot of effort into the website which is often updated within hours of rideouts and events. A gift was given to Steve and chocolates for Terril (his girlfriend) for her patience. The website is getting a good response from the public and attracts potential members.

3 - Treasurer's Report

The Treasurer's report was read out giving details of the opening balance, incomings, outgoings and closing balance and was available for anybody who wanted to read the details. Further details available if required.

4 - Election of Committee

Steve Cooper stood down from the committee. All other members are standing for another year. Proposed by Malcolm Bland and seconded by Graham.

As is becoming a tradition Malcolm said a few words but stated that Paul M had covered most things. He thanked the Terry and the committee for their work. (Probably the shortest speech ever but he was ill).

5 - Some Other Things

The associate membership fee is to be the same as a full member.

Terry then ran through a list of event dates for the forthcoming season which are not being listed (again) here as they are in the Little Clatter and on the website.

6 - Any Other Business

Karl suggested that there had been some whingeing about leadership of the Centre but no specific details were given although he did ask that something be mentioned, possibly to the effect that whingeing is detrimental to the Centre.

Terry was unsure of any such incidents but wondered whether it related to rideouts which occasionally result in some aggro which is obviously upsetting.

7 - Date of Next meeting

The intended date of the next Annual General Meeting is 17th February 2009.
