Hi all,
I hope that you've all had a good Christmas and have plenty of New Year celebrations in store. If you've still got some energy left next Saturday (3rd) then Terry, Sue and a few of us are going to see the band Emerald who Terry has lined up for the Saturday night of his wedding.

They are on at -

If you get chance then come along as it promises to be a good night. If not then look forward to seeing you in 2009 with the first meeting on the 6th Jan at the Flying Horse, Ossett.

Best Wishes to you all for 2009

hi i'm Maggi!

Just a quick note to say hi to those of you who are on the net. Please share this with anybody you know who doesn't have internet access although I'll be saying hello to everybody in the Little Clatter that is due out soon.

I'm sure that most of you already know me, or know of me, from the Little Clatter but for those of you who don't know me personally then I have been a member of VSOC for the last 7 years and have two 535s. I try to attend most of the national rallies, have been to a few international/European rallies and try to attend Sunday rideouts (although I've missed quite a few in the last couple of years mainly due to work/family commitments).

I realise that the change of rep will have come as a surprise to a lot of people but I want to emphasise that this is a temporary measure until the end of summer to allow Terry to concentrate his efforts on his wedding, work and the the various Yorkie activities that he is involved with. He will continue to organise the rideouts and events while I'll do the admin, rep's meetings etc. so it's possible that a lot of members won't even notice the change.

I hope to continue his work in putting forward the Centre 5 views on the proposal to change the club constitution regarding "once a member, always a member" and associate membership. To date the comments given to the Yorkies' committee have been 100% against the proposal but members of the national committee suggest that there are active Centre 5 members who support the change. There is an option to send comments directly to Malcolm or Janet but I'd really appreciate knowing your opinions to ensure that I am reflecting the views of all Yorkies. I will, obviously, honour any request for anonymity.

Anyway, enough of the politics for now. Looking on the bright side, today is the shortest day so we're on the way to light nights, summer sunshine(?), rideouts and rallies.

Hoping that you all have a good Christmas and looking forward to seeing you in the new year.

Maggi

welcome to Maggi

Hi to you all,

after a lot of discussion, and careful thought it has been decided that as from now Maggi Hadfield will be the new C5 Yorkies Rep.

This has come following the need for a good communicator at the main VSOC meetings and to answer mail from the main club. As Maggi has better communication skills and will be able to put our Centre's views over in a better way than I could ever do.

During the summer months there will be a lot of discussion on the way forward for the VSOC, our Centre's views have come over strongly against the proposal that has been put forward and I know that Maggi, with the help of the committee, will continue with voicing the Centre's grievance against this change.

Maggi will be the first point of contact for all topics relating to the VSOC, and I will carry on doing everything that our Centre requires in getting the most out of our hobby and bikes. I will carry on, with the committee's help, to arrange the ride outs / camping weekends / meetings / holidays and articles for the clatter magazine.

This move, we feel, will be a big advantage to our standing in the VSOC, and as before making the Yorkies one of the best, outspoken and most active Centres in the VSOC.

Please give Maggi and all the members on our committee your total support and we will return this by putting the maximum effort in what we do.

For any emails for Yorkies Centre rep please use yorkiesrep.vsoc@btinternet.com.

Yorkies goes camping in 2009

Hi to you all,

Alan and Leslie have now confirmed our 2nd camping weekend, it will be over the Bank Holiday weekend of Friday 22nd - Monday 25th May 2009.

The site is the White House Camping Park in Builth Wells, Wales. It is in a superb location with a river alongside, close to town centre, excellent ride outs and clean facilities.

As it's Bank Holiday weekend we need a deposit of £5 per person. The cost is £7 per person per night.

In addition don't forget the Cottesmore camping weekend, Friday 19th - Sunday 21st June 2009. A summer camping weekend with old school games - back by popular demand.

Cost per tent per night £6. Again a deposit will be required of £5 per person , if you can't make the meetings, please send deposits by post to guarantee a place at either weekend.

The Scouts will put the marquee up for us and do breakfast if needed but they would like to know numbers in order to get the right amount of food - we will sell breakfast tickets prior to event, aprox £3.50 for a full one (lesser amounts by arrangement toast etc). Free Tea & Coffee paid for by raffle.

On site, there is a clubhouse / good wash and toilet facilities. With only a very short walk you will find the typical country pub serving quality food.

Thanks and if you can't make next Tuesday's meeting I hope that you have a great, and restful holiday.

'Yorkies Christmas Do' update

Hi,

We are still missing a few of your menu choices and final payment for the Cairn Hotel event in February 2009.

Could you please mail me your choices asap. For those who still need to pay the balance, please either bring it to next weeks meeting or send it in the post. We need to pay the full amount in early January (Don will have to clear all cheques before we pay them).

VSOC proposal

Hi to all in Centre 5.

Some of you are already aware that during the last year there has been a growing sense of dissatisfaction in some centres of the VSOC that there are too many non qualifying bikes being ridden to rallies and on rideouts. As a solution to this, Alan Johnson (Centre 14 Rep) put forward a proposal at the national AGM. This proposal is to be decided on by the membership and not in a block vote by the centre reps. After a long debate it was decided to put the proposal in clatter along with a statement from our chairman outlining the thoughts behind it. At this point in time all he wants to know is whether or not YOU want to hold a referendum on the subject.

Every member has a right to express their individual opinion and it is to be sent directly to either Malcolm Bland or Janet Butterworth. I have already received a large number of Centre 5 views on this and these will be sent in block to Malcolm Bland - so you can also send them to me, to go with other Centre 5 views.

Centre 5 has expressed very strong views that the VSOC should keep the 'once a member' rule and it should not be changed, so it is of utmost importance that your views are heard, whether to hold a referendum on this or finally put this topic to bed.

You should be receiving the next edition of clatter by this week. If you have any questions on this please try to attend our meetings or you can phone me at home.

first meeting at the Flying Horse

Tuesday was the first meeting at the Flying Horse at Ossett and there was a brilliant turnout. Whether this was the buffet, curiosity about the venue or just pre-Christmas good spirits isn't clear but there was still plenty of room at the inn so the move should be a good one.

An excellent buffet was laid on by Steve and Paula (our hosts) and they even provided take-away boxes for the leftovers. John and Julie put on a fantastic raffle and even the bar staff bought tickets although it was a bit worrying when they had the first ticket out of the hat!

With the company including original founder members to joiners of the last few months the Rep's briefing was a lively affair including discussion of the new proposals although all of the comments were against with nobody raising any views in favour (anybody who missed it will be getting details of the proposal in the Clatter shortly). The older members (membership not age) took this as an opportunity to regale the newer members with stories of when 50 at a rally in a field with no facilities was a major triumph.

An excellent night!

Maggi
